The Fred and Barbara Bracy Memorial Fund

Fred and Barbara Bracy were devoted to each other and to sharing their gifts and interests with others.  Through the gift of singing and his participation in Cape Fear Railroaders, a group devoted to keeping the history of railroaders alive, Fred was able to share two interests that meant so much to him.  Barbara retired from the Air Force Finance Center Retired Pay Section where she enjoyed helping retirees obtain all of the benefits they were due.  Even after retirement, she would review the Air Force Times for tips to help retirees obtain additional benefits.

As their health began to decline, both Fred and Barbara spoke of what they could to do help others.  They recognized that while their assets were meager, their spirit was great.  It was in that spirit that the Fred and Barbara Bracy Memorial Fund was started by their son, Dr. Eugene Wright.  He felt this was a way his parents’ spirit of helping would continue to benefit the community they called home.  This fund will benefit the community through our community grants program which supports nonprofits annually.
