Tom Keith has many wonderful memories of his mother, Grace Butler Keith.  Mrs. Keith was a public school music teacher in St. Pauls, N.C. for 40 years and taught private music lessons in her home.  She enjoyed promoting the enjoyment of music.  One way she did that was through the “Friends of the College Series” at North Carolina State University.  This series brought many musicians to the university such as the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra and the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra.  She would sell tickets to the series and introduce friends and her children to the music she loved, thus developing her son Tom’s love of music, especially symphonic music.

Grace Butler Keith Endowed Chair
The Keith’s have made Fayetteville their home and feel the Fayetteville Symphony Orchestra is an important part of our community.  Through the establishment of an endowment for the Fayetteville Symphony in memory of his mother, the Keith’s are able to help ensure that the symphony will be available for all.  They are also able to honor his mother’s interest in music and the arts.  What a fitting way to preserve the legacy of Mrs. Keith’s love of music for generations to come.
