Ashton W. Lilly Fund for Philanthropy

Ashton W. Lilly

The Ashton W. Lilly Fund for Philanthropy was created in memory of Ashton Wilson Lilly by her daughter, Ashton Lilly Fox, to carry on her legacy of good works for our community.  Some of her daughter’s earliest memories are of her mother doing things for others.  She did not want the focus on her, but it was very easy to see her love for her family, her kindnesses shown to employees of The Fayetteville Observer and her devotion to St. John’s Episcopal Church through the many things she did.

Mrs. Lilly’s love for this community was evidenced by her generous donations to various organizations.  Ashton Fox wanted to create this fund to honor her mother, to recognize a lifetime of giving and to continue her good works.  Grants made from this endowment will do just that.  What a wonderful, permanent way to support the ever-changing needs that will be important to Fayetteville and Cumberland County – worthwhile projects we do not know about now.
