how to apply

Students meeting the general Cumberland Community Foundation Scholarship Program criteria are eligible to apply. In addition to the general eligibility criteria some scholarships have additional criteria specific to that award. Applicants must meet both to be considered.

General Eligibility Criteria

  • Resident of Cumberland County (unless otherwise noted/see Scholarship List and Description)
  • Students who will attend college, university, vocational or technical institutions as a fulltime student in the fall or within six months following the award
  • Academic achievement and potential as indicated by class rank, GPA, and /or standardized test scores (SAT or ACT)
  • Financial need (unless otherwise noted) – See below

Financial Aid Information
Many CCF scholarships are based on financial need and require information from the applicant’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Your parents/guardian will need to complete the form in advance of the scholarship deadline to ensure that your Student Aid Report (SAR) results are available for submission with your application. Visit www.fafsa.ed.gov for more FAFSA information or to file your FAFSA on line.  If available, a copy of your financial award letter from the college or university is also required.

To ensure you have your SAR by March 31, 2010, complete your FAFSA application as soon as possible.

Application Information
The Cumberland Community Foundation Scholarship Application is the method used to apply for most CCF scholarships. If the scholarship requires a different application, it will be noted in the scholarship description document. In addition to the application, all scholarships require written responses to scholarship specific questions and letters of recommendation. The questions are also found in the scholarship description document.

The deadline for scholarship applications is March 31, 2010 unless otherwise noted.
