Priorities, Eligibility, How to Apply for Women’s Giving Circle Grants

Information for the 2017/2018 grant cycle:

Application (available August 30, 2017)

Deadline to apply: October 11, 2017

Eligibility

  • Organizations must be located and provide services in Cumberland County, North Carolina.
  • Organizations must qualify as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or be classified as a unit of government.
  • Organizations must not discriminate on the basis of age, race, national origin, ethnicity, gender, physical ability, sexual orientation, political affiliation or religious belief nor be a religious organization that serves exclusively sectarian purposes.
  • Organizations must have met all reporting requirements on previous funding to be eligible for future funding. For those organizations with active grants who are invited to submit a full proposal, a final or interim report must be submitted with a full grant proposal to be considered for funding.
  • Organizations are required to attend a grant information session in 2017 if a session was not attended last year.  (See more information below to register for a session)

  • Capital and endowment campaigns
  • Fraternal Organizations
  • Organizations for re-granting purposes
  • Travel and conferences
  • Individuals
  • Projects promoting religious or political views
  • Scholarships

Grant Information Sessions:  Any organization applying for a grant that did not attend an information session in 2016 must attend one of these:

These sessions will be held in The Community Room at 310 Green St. (parking and entrance in the back) in Fayetteville, and will run for approximately one hour. The information session will cover the following:

·              Focus Areas for the 2017/2018 Grant Cycle

·              Requirements of grantees

·              Discussion of factors that will support a successful request

·              Grant application process

The focus areas for the 2017/2018 Grant Cycle address one or all of the following needs in Cumberland County as defined by the Women’s Giving Circle Scorecard:
 
     1. Reading proficiency through 3rd grade among children who attend low-income  schools or after school programs
     2. Food insecurity among low income women and children
     3. Homelessness or risk of homelessness among women and children
 
All grant applicants must be a 501(c)3 organization and must attend a workshop (2016 or 2017) before completing an application with the Women’s Giving Circle.  Application information will be available online at www.cumberlandcf.org beginning August 30, 2017 with a deadline of Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at 5:00 PM.
