Mission Statement

Cumberland Community Foundation exists to foster creative change, to encourage and test new ideas, and to work for the common good of all citizens of Cumberland County and the surrounding area by:

  • Promoting local philanthropy and its rewards;
  • Building and maintaining a permanent endowment for the benefit of the community;
  • Providing a flexible vehicle for prospective donors with varied charitable interests and abilities to give; and
  • Developing solutions to changing community needs through effective grant making.

Value Statement

Cumberland Community Foundation believes that we are enriched, strengthened, and more effective in achieving our mission through diverse and inclusive community engagement.

Therefore, the Board of Directors of Cumberland Community Foundation resolves on this day to continue, institutionalize, and expand our engagement with the community in the following ways:

  1. To provide accountable, flexible, and quality philanthropic services to donors of any ability to give;
  2. To build philanthropic leadership among women through a variety of initiatives, including a women's giving circle;
  3. To engage diverse givers of time, talent, and treasure in support of academic achievement through education-centered giving circles; and
  4. To ensure that the board, staff, and volunteer leadership represents the rich diversity of our community.

Adopted and resolved by the Board of Directors of Cumberland Community Foundation at its annual meeting on June 12, 2008.
