Most of the gifts given to Cumberland Community Foundation become part of one of our permanent endowment funds, which means they will benefit our community forever. We invest the gifts we receive so they grow and maximize the resources available to us to address community needs.
INVESTMENT OBJECTIVES FOR ENDOWED FUNDS
We have a long track record of accountable stewardship over your endowment funds. For endowed funds, our investment goals are to preserve the original value of gifts in terms of inflation and grow our assets as much as market conditions allow so we can address community needs now and in the future. Cumberland Community Foundation employs a moderate growth strategy using a targeted percent invested in equities, fixed income vehicles, and real estate or other alternative funds. We use an investment model based on a consistent culture, structure, discipline and asset allocation in partnership with our Investment Consultant and local professionals. It has produced excellent results in both up and down markets over extended time frames.
The chart below illustrates Cumberland Community Foundation’s quarterly Pool A* investment performance for the period ending 12/31/2016. (*Certain large, donor advised funds have their own investment portfolio with different asset allocations and their performance is not shown in this chart.)
