Nonprofit Policy Conversation
Cumberland Community Foundation is excited to once again host the Nonprofit Policy Conversation led by David Heinen, Vice President for Public Policy and Advocacy for the NC Center for Nonprofits. It will take place on May 11 from 10AM-12PM at 310 Green Street.
The Nonprofit Policy Conversation will bring together local nonprofit leaders, partners, and decision-makers to discuss public policy issues shaping our nonprofit work and affecting the North Carolina communities we serve.
During this gathering, we'll discuss key policy developments including:
Federal grant disruptions in 2025 and early 2026
Potential changes to rules about nonpartisan election-related activities by 501(c)(3)s
Whether nonprofit diversity, equity, and inclusion programs and policies are now "illegal discrimination"
Implications of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act for nonprofits and the people they serve
Updates on the state budget process
A preview of major state policy issues affecting nonprofits in 2026.
We encourage everyone to attend. We are a stronger community when we are informed.
