Support Summertime Kids
Every summer since 1992, the Summertime Kids program has helped more than 1,000 youth have life-changing summer experiences. Cumberland Community Foundation has partnered with neighborhood and community organizations to provide excellent opportunities for children in Cumberland County. Many of these youth are from low income families and underserved communities. All donations benefit recreational, enrichment, and mentoring activities for youth in summer camps that are offered by local nonprofit organizations, neighborhood groups, and other community groups.
According to research conducted by the University of New Hampshire, summer camps can significantly enhance the social development of youths. Campers show significantly greater improvement in social skills including time management, initiating action in new situations, self-confidence, task leadership, and interpersonal skills.
